Bradford-Online.com
July 21, 2007
I am currently in the process of updating Bradford-Online.com. Most of our regular visitors are saying, “It’s about time”! I agree. This new version will be a big improvement over the older, more static style.
The old design looked, well, old. It was also hard to maintain and update.
This new design is based on the WordPress blog. That means that it is easier to update in the form of “posts” or articles. Bradford-Online.com has an RSS feed that can notify you whenever a new article or comment is posted. I am going to update the following sections and they will be available soon:
I’ll be adding a “Churches” section because I’ve had several requests.
The Bradford-Online Free Classifieds will be all new. First, you’ll be able to include pictures in all ads. By registering you’ll be able to log in and manage your ads, and before they expire you will receive an e-mail reminder if you want to renew your ad. The registration will help to keep the ads spam-free and focused on the local area. Best of all, Bradford-Online Classifieds will continue to be FREE.
You’ll be able to make comments on articles, so let me know what you think. If you have an opinion, want to add information, or make a correction, just click the “Comments” link at the bottom of the article. I will read all comments and post them if they are appropriate.
I’ll be updating the site all this week so please keep checking back and sending your comments. If you have an RSS reader please add a link to our feed so you’ll know as things are added.

if possible can you keep a section for band/dj happenings also upcoming events such as bradfords festivals and others around the area and if so i can send you a links to all points of interest and attractions that may draw people to the bradford and surrounding areas such as hiking trails and historical monuments

Hi Gary,
If you send the events (band/dj, festivals etc.) with what, when, where, and a description I’ll post them on the events calendar.
As far as points of interest and attractions, depending on what it is, I can post a link, or with enough details I can dedicate a post to too.
I plan on adding a local links page to keep track of all the local resources. If you want to write a review of a trail or a local gig the readers will really appreciate it. A picture or two would be great.

Thanks for checking in with us Grace. Bradford is kind of like a glacier. You don’t notice the change until you go away and then come back to look at it.

Last year I stay in Bradford for 45 days ,because my brother was sick. He pass away in June 2006. My husband and I like very much your town, we want to come back on summer 2008. I read every day the Bradford Era and see the web cam. My sister in law and my niece live there. I want to give all my wishes to all the resident because you have a beautiful town. Leave that way. Hey Spider how are you? I wanted to get back home and visit this summer but airfare is SO high. My parents and my 2 sisters and their kids are over to State Park this week with my Mom’s sister, husband and their kids…a week long family reunion. What’s the weather like there? It’s been cool here for most of the summer except for a couple weeks of hot temps. Take care,
Grace

When I got to your site I was surprised at the changes. I think it looks great but agree with Matt that there needs to be a topic and poll forum to keep the discussions about Bradford (on a political and social level) going. Are you intending to keep that part of the website active? It would be a real shame if you didn’t as this was a great place to really hear heartbeat of Bradford.

Hi Nancy,
The part of the Bradford-Online you’re talking about, with the discussions and polls was “Talk About Bradford”.
Now TAB has its own website, TalkAboutBradford.com. That’s why I told Matt to read this post. I’m glad you mentioned it again though as it gives me a chance to mention BradfordToday.com. This is another Bradford oriented social site everyone should check out. It has free blogs for users, its own discussion forum, and more. The publisher has put a lot of work into it and I hope people will give it a chance. It’s another online Bradford community, just a different neighborhood.
