Okay, here’s how it works down here. Right now the leaves are all still green, with some color starting to sport. Nobody really notices. Someday in late October and sometimes even early November, people will look up from the cement and say, hey, the leaves have changed. That night a blustery storm will blow through, taking all the leaves with it and the next day people will say, “Where did autumn go?”

Oh, well.
